Why I Started Faith & Justice Support Services: A Founder’s Story

The law has always felt like a locked door—intimidating, overwhelming, and often out of reach for those who need it most. Growing up, I believed the law didn’t apply to me. As long as I didn’t hurt anyone, steal, or lie, I could live quietly and unnoticed in my small corner on the east side.

I didn't realize it until my perspective on history shifted, but people in power never wanted individuals like me to question or understand the law. Our community, ancestors, and culture were ignored when the declaration was signed. “We the people” did not include Indigenous or Mexican people. In fact, we were expected to sell our land, silence our identity, and live under laws created for others in their pursuit of happiness.

Don’t misunderstand me—I am a proud American. I know that under different regimes, the situation could have been much worse. I wouldn’t be where I am today without God's grace and the opportunities this country has given me. My parents worked hard to ensure we were good citizens and had a chance at a better future.

Still, I have seen family, friends, and neighbors face legal challenges without proper guidance—unsure of their rights and hesitant to ask questions. I’ve watched the shame that surfaces when someone doesn’t understand what a form means or what a court notice demands. And I’ve felt the deep frustration of witnessing people navigate a system that wasn’t built for them.

Over time, those experiences didn’t just stay with me—they shaped who I am.

They shaped the way I saw justice.
They shaped the way I saw community.
And ultimately, they shaped the creation of Faith & Justice Support Services.

✨ Born from Faith. Designed for Community.

Faith & Justice didn’t start as a business idea — it began as a calling.

A calling to serve.
A calling to advocate.
A calling to lighten what feels heavy.

My faith has always pulled me toward service, especially for communities that have been ignored, misunderstood, or marginalized because they don’t “fit the mold.”

There is power in compassion.
There is strength in knowledge.
And when those two come together, something sacred happens.

I wanted to create a place where people could learn about their rights without feeling judged.
A place where they could breathe.
Ask questions.
And walk away with confidence that wasn’t there before.

A place rooted in our culture, aware of our fears, and strengthened by our resilience.

✊ Breaking Generational Fear of the Legal System

In many Latino households, the legal system is something we avoid.
We only talk about it when absolutely necessary — and even then, anxiety and confusion fill the room.

That silence has cost us too much:
• misinformation
• missed opportunities
• unnecessary fear

Faith & Justice was created to change that.

We aim to empower Latino and justice-impacted families through:
📘 legal literacy
🤝 practical guidance
💛 culturally competent support

Time and again, I meet people who don’t understand their rights simply because no one has ever explained them in a way that honors their lived experiences.

I want our community to know:
You deserve to understand the law. You deserve clarity, respect, and dignity.

Faith & Justice Support Services will work every day to make that possible.

❤️ A Mission Rooted in Love, Culture, and Advocacy

Starting this nonprofit wasn’t just a career step — it was a step toward healing generational wounds.

Faith & Justice is built on who we are:

✨ resilient
✨ faithful
✨ community-driven
✨ deserving of justice and understanding

Every workshop, conversation, and resource reflects those values.
This work is personal.
It is holy.
And it is just the beginning.

🌱 Moving Forward with Purpose

I know that Faith & Justice will grow — not because of me, but because of the community it serves.

When we educate, we empower.
When we advocate, we uplift.
And when we walk together, we make change happen.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
Thank you for believing in a future where justice is accessible to everyone.
Thank you for allowing Faith & Justice to serve you — with heart, with hope, and with purpose.
